Interview with Jerry Quinn (VSB ’87)
By Elliot Williams (B.A. ’16)
When Villanova alumni arrive in the DC area, there’s a good chance they’ll hear similar advice: “Talk to Jerry.”
The “Jerry” they’re referring to is Bethesda resident Jerry Quinn (VBS ‘87), president emeritus of the Villanova Club of Greater Washington DC, an active member of the VU Alumni Association board, and the first stop for dozens of alums new to the DC area. Like many of us, Jerry is a transplant—first from Florida, then from New Jersey—who eventually found his home in the Greater DC area Villanova community.
He’s made such an impact in the DC Villanova community for the last 15 years, it’s only apt we feature the man, the myth, the legend for the inaugural issue of Villanova Bridges, a DMV exclusive publication that puts a spotlight on DC-area alums across all graduation years and industries.
I caught up with Jerry at his home—appropriately for a Villanova basketball game watch earlier this year. Alongside was his ever-present companion, Captain, a Golden Retriever he shares with his wife Michelle (a Georgetown alum, but we won’t hold that against her…or him), and his two daughters, Hanna (ChE ’16) and Maggie.
